Domestic Violence Bail Bonds in Winston-Salem

Around The Clock Bail Bonds provides domestic violence bail bond services in Winston-Salem. Domestic violence charges work differently than most other arrests: North Carolina law requires that only a judge, not a magistrate, can set bond conditions in these cases. We know this process well and stay ready to move the moment a judge acts.

That rule stays in place until one of two things happens:

  1. A judge reviews the case and sets conditions of release, which can include a stay-away order, no-contact terms, or other protective conditions in addition to bond.
  2. 48 hours pass from the time of arrest without a judge acting, at which point a magistrate at the Forsyth County Detention Center can set conditions instead.

This isn’t a rule unique to serious cases. It applies to domestic violence charges across the board here in Forsyth County, where the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office Domestic Violence Unit and Winston-Salem’s specialized domestic violence court handle a steady caseload each year.

In fact, the Forsyth County District Attorney’s Domestic Violence Unit resolved over 2,200 domestic violence cases countywide in a recent year, with roughly three quarters of them originating right here in Winston-Salem. Call us and we’ll explain where your loved one’s case stands and what comes next.

How Domestic Violence Bail Bonds Work

Once a judge sets bond and release conditions, or the 48-hour window passes, getting your loved one out of custody follows a clear process.

  • Arrest and booking happen first. Your loved one is taken to the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center in downtown Winston-Salem, where booking is completed and a judge (or magistrate, after 48 hours) sets bond and any release conditions.
  • Confirm the details before calling. It helps to have their full name, booking number if available, and the bond amount ready when you reach out to us.
  • You call Around The Clock Bail Bonds. We answer 24/7, walk you through your options, and start the paperwork right away once conditions are set.
  • The bond is posted. Once paperwork is complete, we submit the bond to the detention facility so processing can begin.
  • Release follows. Timing depends on staffing and booking volume at the facility, but we stay in contact throughout so you’re never left guessing.

Why Choose Around The Clock Bail Bonds?

Domestic violence cases move on a different timeline than most other charges, so having a bondsman who understands how that plays out locally matters. Here’s what you can count on with us:

  • Forsyth County specialists: We know the Forsyth County Detention Center and how the judge review requirement for domestic violence charges typically unfolds here.
  • Available 24/7: These arrests happen at all hours, and so do we, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • State-regulated fees with flexible payment options: you’ll know exactly what to expect, and we work with you to find terms that make sense.
  • Non-judgmental, confidential support: we treat every client and their family with respect and privacy during a stressful situation.
  • Clear communication throughout: we keep you updated at each stage so you’re never left wondering what’s happening.

AMAZING!!! We looked for days for a bail bondsman that would work with us to bring our loved one home. After many calls and unfortunately many heartbreaking let downs, we were able to speak with Jordan and David. They were our miracle that we had been praying so hard for. Within 4 hours of speaking with them we were able to bring him home, the day before thanksgiving I might add! I can not be more grateful for the services I received. He explained what I needed, worked with my family to make sure we could make it happen that day. 5 stars just isn’t enough for what they have done for my family. If I ever find myself or anyone else in need of a bonds man I without a doubt am recommending around the clock bail bonds!
I can not thank y’all enough!!!

I contacted Around The Clock this morning and bondsman Jordan was quick to answer and help me through my concerns and questions (my first time using a bondsman service). He even texted me his personal cell phone number for even faster service. He was courteous and professional and almost immediately got his agent Aubrey connected to assist me. Aubrey was sooo awesome! Very friendly, smiley, knowledgeable and professional and she answered all my questions and worked in a super timely fashion! She stuck it out with me to the end. I couldn't be more pleased with Around The Clock Bail Bonds! Amazing service! A+++++

Honestly, 5 stars just isn’t enough to express how great of a pleasure it was to work with Jordan! Jordan responded quickly, told me what he was capable of doing for my family and he did just that! Jordan arrived to the jailhouse before my family and I. Jordan was prepared with the needed documentation, he was knowledgeable and made the experience stress free! Jordan gave my family a sense of compassion and support while explaining the process moving forward. Jordan was extremely professional yet down to earth which was enjoyable and gave us a bit of relief. Jordan took the time out to speak with my brother who had been incarcerated, giving him support and guidance moving forward. It was obvious that Jordan took on this line of work simply because he has a heart for helping others rather than just looking for a way to gain from them. Although I hope my family is never in need of a bondsman in the near future, I’d never call anyone else other than Jordan to help us out! Jordan thank you so very much for all of your help and continued support!!

Frequently Asked Questions

Why Can't a Magistrate Set Bond Right After a Domestic Violence Arrest?
North Carolina law requires a judge, not a magistrate, to set bond and release conditions in domestic violence cases. This can mean a longer wait if a judge isn't immediately available, but a magistrate can step in after 48 hours if needed.
What Conditions Might a Judge Add Beyond Bond?
A judge can add conditions like a stay-away order from the alleged victim's home or workplace, no-contact terms, or restrictions on firearms. These conditions apply alongside the bond amount, not instead of it.
Can Release Happen Faster if a Judge Isn't Available?
Not exactly. The case simply waits for a judge to act, up to 48 hours, at which point a magistrate can set conditions instead. Once conditions are set, we can move quickly to post the bond.
What Do I Need Before Calling About a Winston-Salem Domestic Violence Arrest?
Have the arrested person's full name, their booking number if available, and the bond amount once it's set. If a judge hasn't acted yet, call us anyway so we're ready the moment conditions are in place.
