The magistrate is who you want to talk to for information about your loved one.

1. First, you can call the jail at 336-634-3236 to find out where your loved one is in the process, and obtain their bond number. You’ll need this when you talk to a bondsman.

2. If you’d prefer to go in person, you should know that the jail is separate from the magistrate’s office. Once inside, you’ll see a phone to your right on the back wall. Use it and dial 2-1-1-1 to reach the jail. They can give you info on your loved one. From there, the magistrate’s office is through the door on the left from the front entrance.

3. Call a bondsman, who will meet you in the lobby. You’ll fill out the bond agreement with the bondsman, and then they will post the bond.

* Rockingham county has a 1-2 hour release time after posting the bond.

4. Once released, your loved one must meet the bondsman and fill out the contractual bond agreement.
